Our Social Media

The term social media involves dynamic communication and includes such technologies as blogs, Internet forums, wikis, podcasts, instant messaging—even email is social media. These platforms show what our university is made of. That's why it's important to remember that when you refer to Texas A&M in your social media platforms, you impact the Texas A&M brand. And while these platforms are called "social" media and not "professional" media, be sure to use the correct university logos and marks in your pages and messages.

Here's a brief overview on our social media initiatives:

  • Texas A&M on iTunes U uses podcasting and mobile technology to share the Texas A&M experience with over 80% of the world's online digital music and entertainment audience. Here viewers find the real story (beyond the classroom), the untold story (non-stereotypical), and the continuing story (through subscriptions) using a multimedia experience (video, audio, PDF) that appeals to the audience's mobile lifestyle (MP3 players, iPods, iPhones).
  • The Texas A&M official Facebook page provides a non-authoritative, welcoming community that rallies around an exchange of Aggie spirit. This platform promotes dialogue between future, current and former students, and links to campus news, school events and scholarships and applications. Once Facebook users become "fans" of this page, they are joined with thousands of other fans, who in turn introduce the page to other viewers. Facebook is the "social glue" for most high school and university students—with over 175 million active users.
  • Aggie Blogs are a collection of Texas A&M bloggers who talk about campus, student and academic life and experiences. Their blogs represent insight from a number of diverse perspectives as to what life at Texas A&M is all about.
